The drawing is done partly from imagination and partly from a book we had when I was a kid (illustrated by Giovanni Castelli), using a few mixed references, altering them to fit with the idea I had in my head. I haven't really ever worked in the digital medium, being a traditional artist - but have recently had a little play with Photoshop. It's fascinating to see how certain aspects are quite similar to working traditionally, and others are vastly different.
